The Process

Sketching

I began by making some sketches of what I wanted some of the photos to look like based on my knowledge of the campus and what some of the photos I have taken on the campus before looked like.

Taking the photos

Next came time to take the photos themselves using these types of cameras

Editing

After taking the photos, and choosing the keepers, I had to edit them to be black and white and capture the style of Ansel Adams' works. I finished by sorting the photos I took into three collections.

Cyanotype

Then, I chose some of my favorite photos out of all the collections to have physical cyanotype copies made. I digitally turned the photos into their negatives, then printed them onto clear plastic.

Next, I mixed chemical solutions in a dark room and painted them onto a sheet of paper. I took the transparent photo print and sandwiched it in-between the paper and a sheet of glass and put it all in a photo frame.

Lastly, I placed the frame under a black light and exposed the photo to the black light for 7 minutes. After this, I took the paper and rinsed it in water and let it dry to create this final look.

Thank you!
